About the Author

Words written from lived experience.

E. Wise is an author, speaker, and longtime advocate for emotional recovery. His work draws from more than a decade of quiet practice — guiding individuals through the patient, deliberate work of healing what most people never speak about.

His earlier writing and accompanying course reached readers in over twenty countries, offering a steady voice to people rebuilding after grief, heartbreak, and self-doubt.

"We do not rise by forgetting the fire. We rise because we learned how to carry it."

Rising from the Ashes is his most personal work to date — a companion for anyone ready to meet their pain honestly and begin again.

Inside the Book

Eight chapters for the long work ahead.

Each chapter offers reflection, research, and gentle practice — designed to be read slowly, returned to often, and underlined generously.

The Weight We Learn to Carry

Understanding the origins of emotional wounds, and why most of us never named them.

Naming the Fire

A framework for identifying the specific pain beneath the surface of daily life.

Stillness as Medicine

Why pause is not avoidance — and how silence becomes part of the healing.

The Long Walk Through Grief

On the non-linear nature of loss, and the gentle permissions required.

Rebuilding the Inner Voice

Practices for softening self-criticism and restoring self-trust over time.

Relationships After the Storm

How healing reshapes the way we show up for the people we love.

A Life Worth Returning To

Finding meaning, ritual, and joy in a life that feels, finally, like your own.

On Rising

A closing reflection on what it means to stand again — changed, but whole.

Praise

Quiet books, lasting impact.

The first book in years that didn't try to fix me. It sat with me. I'm returning to chapter three already.

Common Questions

Before you order.

Everything we're usually asked — shipping, editions, and the occasional question from book clubs and practitioners.

When will my copy ship?

Hardcover and autographed editions ship from our Portland bindery within three to five business days. Domestic orders typically arrive within a week; international within two to three. E-Books are delivered instantly to the email on your order.

Is there a Kindle or Apple Books version?

Yes — the E-Book edition purchased here includes both ePub and PDF files. Kindle and Apple Books versions are available through their respective stores; see the Also available at row above for direct links.

What makes the Autographed Edition different?

Each of the five hundred autographed copies is personally signed by E. Wise, hand-numbered, and printed on the same cream archival paper as the Hardcover — with a foil-stamped colophon inside the front cover and a letterpressed slipcase. Once the run sells out, it will not be reprinted.

Do you offer bulk orders for practices or retreats?

We do. Orders of ten or more receive discounted pricing and complimentary freight. Therapists, retreat leaders, and booksellers can write to editorial@emeraldpublishing.co with the quantity and shipping address, and we'll reply within two business days.

Is there an audiobook?

An audiobook narrated by the author is in production for a release later this year. Newsletter subscribers will be the first to hear when preorders open — you can sign up just below this section.
